Fit Sport Austria

Acitivity Square Europe - To Move 80 Million Children

School Sport Cooperation on European Level

From January 2016 to June 2018 the Erasmus+ project "Activity Square Europe" supported an information exchange between project coordinators of EU member states who are working in the field of school and sport sector cooperation. Fit Sport Austria had the lead of this project and 13 organisations from 9 different countries participated. One of the project's objectives was to build a benchmark tool for people who are working in this field. This benchmark tool is ready to fill out at this website.

If you have questions related to "Activity Square Europe" project or the benchmark tool, please feel free to contact Fit Sport Austria!

#10 TEST YOUR PROGRAM!
To achieve the best possible results and to safeguards potential public support, successful school- and sport sector cooperation programs must be evaluated and should be able to proof their impact.
Relevance – Why is this requirement important?

Evaluation helps to improve the intervention and to legitimate the funding. Publication of evaluation reports/research helps sport coordinators worldwide to develop better programs.

Challenges – What are the typical challenges related to this requirement?

Due to wishes of policy makers and politicians, most projects have short term life cycles and therefore it is hard to have solid effects and/or have time to do an evaluation. As effects on children development are influenced by a lot of factors it is hard to proof the impact of school-sport sector cooperation.

Strategies – What are potential measures or strategies you might consider to (better) fulfil this requirement?

The main strategy is to build commitment at the politician level to receive funding for projects and evaluation for a longer time period. Use an evaluation model i.e. output, outcome and impact, to make clear what the different project's effects are on different levels. Evaluate and publish on effects and on perceptions of the stakeholders and general public to get sustainable support. Furthermore, ensure that the evaluation concept fits to the project and is developed due to the principle: As much as necessary, as little as possible.

Self-Test – How does your project fulfil this requirement?
Are the following statements true, partly true or false for your project – please fill out!
The effects of the project are evaluated with a variety of proper instruments (triangulation) and with all stakeholders.
